February 17, 2024: Carpe Diem (Day +324)
Greetings from Boston! Yes, we got on a plane on Thursday afternoon, after 1.5 years of not flying, and carpe diem-ed our way to Boston! Shout out to John for suggesting it!
As Sam has shared, he got into Northeastern, plus he’s applied regular decision to Boston College, so we decided what the hell, we’ve got a long weekend, might as well go check it out. And Sam’s never been to Boston before.
Turns out we have many friends whose kid or kids are or have been at Northeastern. What great luck! So one of them connected us to a Northeastern employee that they know and that person got us a phenomenal tour. The tour guide is both a College of Science student *and* from CA so she fielded our “how did you adjust to the weather” questions as well as “what is dorm life like” and “how does the co-op program work” and “how does the dining hall/meal plan work?” 😀 .
And…..I got to introduce Sam to some of my classmates from MIT and vice versa. And……I got to show Sam around MIT ❤️ And it was snowing, not too much to be off-putting, but enough to show him what winter is like.
Sam also found a Paly soccer friend who’s a first year at Northeastern and they hung out on Sunday night.
And shout out to my friends David and Phil, who’d high-tailed it to Florida for vacay, but gave us some awesome restaurant recs, and they were all walkable from our hotel.
Also shout out to our friend Katie D. For showing us around Boston College!
We had an awesome time!
