June 18, 2023: Honoring Sam’s 1 year diagnosis milestone and his strength and resilience
Hi friends and fam —
As most of you know, Sam’s 1 year diagnosis milestone is approaching on June 28 (might have been the wee hours of the 29th but I’ll just go with the 28th since that was the evening we went to the ER).
Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford has timed their annual fundraiser perfectly so we can dovetail supporting them and honoring Sam.
The fundraiser is called the Summer Scamper and Zack and I ran the 5K last year and all 3 of Zack, Sam and John ran the Scamper before Covid (Zack did the 600 meter run and John and Sam did the 5K).
We would love it if you can donate any amount to Team Sam (there’s a space in the team name and no hashtag): all of our donations for Team Sam will go to support pediatric oncology at LPCH.
And if you’re local and want to run or walk the 5K, join us on Sunday June 25 at 9 am! I know it’s also SF Pride so understand if you’re going to that 🏳️🌈
Thank you for considering!
Our family is also donating $10,000 to the Scamper in honor of Sam (it hasn’t appeared yet on the donation board as it’s en route from our DAF (donor advised fund).
If you want to use your DAF, please choose Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford as the recipient and then indicate in the “special instructions section” that the funds are for the Summer Scamper, Team Sam, URL: https://my.supportlpch.org/team/507411. Team members Kathy Howe, John and Zack Lilly
That should get it to the right place (have asked them to add DAF as a future option for next year’s Scamper too 🙂)
