Counted our chickens too soon

All is well -- Sam's doing great with the 4th & last course of high dose methotrexate, and hopefully on track to head home tomorrow lunchtime.

But after a little more thought and looking at Sam's numbers, our doc called and said she thinks it's too much risk to head on our trip right now, given the state of Sam's immune system.

So we're all disappointed -- the boys especially -- but we'll start unwinding the trip tomorrow and working on our newly updated Thanksgiving week local extravaganza. Will include some bowling, some Nintendo Switch Sports, lots of World Cup, food & desserts TBD.

Milo is ecstatic about the news, happy to have his people here and around him, ready to walk and play fetch with him at any time. He's a great dog, but I will say that he's not great at reading the room, if I'm being 100% honest.

Anyway, a trip delayed, not canceled. Maybe in the spring. :)

And doesn't change the Thanksgiving calculus at all. Things to be thankful for all around us, and especially being together. It's always been my favorite holiday of the year, and this year's will be no exception.

I'm so sorry. I know that has to be hugely disappointing. Sending my love.

Sam and family, remember, Thanksgiving is most of all a state of mind rather than a date on the calendar. Praying you keep heads and hearts up!

Oh, man. I'm sorry. That's disappointing about the delay, but I'm proud you are focusing on the many good things. Our Thanksgiving is going to be a bit like yours. Not what I'd planned, but still countless reasons to give thanks. ❤️

So sorry to hear about the bummer change in plans. I’m impressed (and unsurprised) at how admirably you’ve pivoted though! The week will still be festive and amazing!

I'm so sorry about the disappointment - but as always, you all find a shining light. ❤️ Hope you enjoy the holiday at home, and that Milo starts to get a clue. 😉
