March 6, 2023: Long time, no update
All is well over here — never fear! Our warrior has been hanging out with friends, hiking the Dish with Alec (BFF), playing chess with Zack, watching TV with me and John (last night it was Cooks vs. Cons — cons are not criminals, they are just lying about their status as a cook — we take bets on which of the 4 are the 2 cooks before they finish their first dish — fun times!)
I’ve been admiring (to myself quietly because…….teenager 😂) his hair and its darker color, the gold tones that were there before, and were in John’s hair too, are gone. And the signs of the waviness that it had before are coming back at a shorter hair cut level (before Covid he kept his hair low like it is now but the wavy wasn’t there — I love the wavy ❤️). No photos because…..teenager. Sigh. He usually wears one of his 2 favorite beanies (from Jason Mamoa’s line — but don’t tell him I told you that because it’s “his beanie” 😂) so we don’t see the hair all that much. And it will fall out again prior to his transplant 😞
He is finishing up the entire year’s worth of Pre-Calc this week and he’s 1/3rd through 2nd semester Physics Honors as of today. He’ll have a few more classes before his Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and then we’ll put a “hold” until May or whenever he feels good enough to start again. We are super grateful that we found Fusion Academy (thanks Sean and Jen!) as they’ve fit into his new academic journey in just the right way.
He’s been getting some tests run, like I have, to get ready for the BMT so the schedule has been even busier than usual: last week was a CT scan, today (Monday 3/6) is a pulmonary test and EKG to get a baseline.
After having a week off from Blinatumomab, he was back in to LPCH for a routine observation (2 night stay started Thursday 3/2 — this is a requirement every time he starts a new round of blina: they monitor for cytokine storms and fever but he’s had no problems, thankfully). He’ll have 2 more weeks of blina and then on 3/16 he’ll be finished.
On Sunday 3/19/23 he’ll be admitted to LPCH for the “conditioning” medicines and radiation that will eradicate his leukemia and immune system.

3/29/23 he will get his transplant!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Let’s go!

so glad you found Fusion. My daughter used it for a year while she was on medical leave.
