Sam got greenlighted for the gym too!  John and I have been going to a trainer for a while now and before leukemia, Sam had gone there too during the summer and some vacations so it was easy to connect him with one of the other trainers and they got started last Monday.
He came home afterwards reporting being a bit tired but with plans to go twice next week 💪🏼 and he showed up at the clinic this week reporting “muscle soreness” in parts of his arms with a smile on his face.
There are still limitations about what he can do, especially lifting at chest level and above his head, but he can do more with his legs, lunges, squats  etc so that is good. And once he gets his port out, he’ll have a bit more latitude (but still has to take it easy on exercises that are at or above chest level).
And Karen said they’d had a number of conversations as a medical team as a result of our questions about what is allowed and why and what is not allowed and why. She said there are a few young adults in their care who are also asking these questions so yay for hitting the gym for all these strong young people! 💪🏼
