At about this time (3:20 pm) on a super hot Wednesday 18 years ago, this stronger than I could’ve ever imagined human came into the world and made me a mom for the first time. He’s got grace beyond his years. He’s got a wicked, and at times dark, sense of humor that is insightful and quick. He is a great friend and he invests in and maintains strong friendships. He loves to cook and play Overwatch, hang out with friends, watch old movies and Narcos: Mexico with me, and play chess and Mario anything with his brother. He watches MLS games and plays FIFA with John and together we 3 watch every Gordon Ramsey cooking show + some bad reality TV thrown in.

He is direct in style, and as independent, unconventional, and resilient as they come. He loves his dog and is a great white water rafter to boot! (if you say “high side” he knows what to do!) And he f—-ing defeated leukemia this year! #FULeukemia! *And* above all else, he shares his grace and steadfast mindset about childhood cancer with others who are facing it, without sugar-coating it, and they walk away from their conversations/texts with him empowered and with more ease than they started. Talk about a super-power! The world is much more vibrant place with this newly minted adult in it. 2005 was a kick ass year. Let the adulting begin! #FULeukemia!
