November 25, 2023: IvIG (Day + 231)

Saturday, November 25, 2023 · by kathy howe

Today Sam and I are at clinic for a few hours to get a dose of IvIG: intravenous immunoglobulin. He gets these every 3–4 months to help boost his immune system. IG are antibodies that protect us from bacteria, viruses, and fungi.

He has tolerated the infusions well in the past and is doing so again today. Reactions can include itchiness and headaches.

Glad he continues to thrive, Kathy! Has his team brought up subcutaneous IG at all? It's an alternative route of delivery that can be self-administered at home... could save you a clinic visit. (although every 3-4 months isn't too bad) Go Team Sam...and good luck with those college applications! Any university would be lucky to have him! :)
